Nearest Navaids - MSFS 2024 EFB App

Nearest Navaids is a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 EFB application that displays nearby radio navigation stations and nearby airports around the user’s current aircraft position.

Features

·         Separate lists for VOR, NDB, TACAN, and nearby airports.

·         Selectable distance ranges with bearing and distance information.

·         Station and airport type icons for quick identification, including airports and seaports.

·         Airport rows include available frequency types and longest runway information, including runway pair, length, and surface type where available.

·         Airport details page with grouped COM frequencies such as ATIS, Clearance, Ground, Tower, Approach, Departure, and Unicom where available.

·         ILS / LOC information for airports where supported by the simulator navdata, including runway, ident, course, and frequency where available.

·         Information page explaining available navigation aids, airport information, frequency types, longest runway data, and tuning behavior.

Tuning

·         When a VOR, NDB, or TACAN station is selected, the app can send the corresponding frequency or TACAN channel to the simulator radio system, supporting NAV, ADF, and TACAN tuning where applicable.

·         When an airport COM frequency is selected, the app can tune it to COM1 or COM2, active or standby.

·         When an airport ILS / LOC frequency is selected, the app can tune it to NAV1 or NAV2, active or standby.

·         Some aircraft may not include every supported radio type, so certain tune commands may have no visible cockpit effect depending on the aircraft.

Performance and purpose

·         Built with performance in mind for console users and users with lower-spec PCs

·         Designed as a lightweight cockpit utility to help users quickly identify nearby radio navigation aids, nearby airports, runway information, COM frequencies, and ILS / LOC frequencies directly from the EFB.

·         Useful for aircraft without advanced GPS systems, classic or analog panels, military aircraft using TACAN, and situations where quick airport or frequency reference is needed during flight.

The app is expected to be released soon exclusively on the MSFS2024 Marketplace.
